| Ken acquired his first guitar
at age twelve. After teaching himself to play, he was touring professionally by age seventeen. He began the serious study of
music after coming off the road at age twenty-one. Ken studied guitar under Dr. Huggins at Jeff State, Derek Patton, Larry Frings and David Walbert of Fretted Instruments. He studied formal music and composition at UAB and Mannes in New York. Ken also studied voice with Russell Hedger at Samford University and Dr. Wesley Miller. Ken has taken seminar classes with Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Michael Angelo, Vinnie Moore and many others. Ken has been teaching professionally in the Birmingham area for twenty-five years. His teaching career began by writing arrangements for other guitar players. He has experience in Classical, Rock, Country and Jazz. He has taught seminars and clinics from coast to coast, including the New York Guitar Seminar - Juliard. Ken’s student base is over 2,500 in the Birmingham area to date. All Ken’s students share a common love of the guitar, and many have gone on to perform and tour professionally around the world. His students range from age three to ninety-three, with skill levels from beginner to professional. His lessons are tailored to the individual student’s skill level and personal music tastes.
